Effective date: September 9, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SoberLoop mobile application and website (the "Service") operated by SoberLoop ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 13 years old to use SoberLoop. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. SoberLoop is intended for people navigating recovery from alcohol, substances, or addictive behaviors, and for the friends, family, and allies who support them.
SoberLoop is a peer-support and self-help tool. It is not a medical, mental-health, or addiction-treatment service, and it does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or professional counseling. Content in the app — including AI-generated responses — is for informational and motivational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider about your situation. If you are in crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) or your local emergency number.
SoberLoop is a space built on compassion and respect. When posting, commenting, or messaging others, you agree to:
We may remove any content that violates these Terms and suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly or severely abuse the community. Every post, comment, and message can be reported via its "⋯" menu, and you can block any user to stop seeing their content. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team and may be shared with authorities where someone's safety is at risk. Content that poses an imminent risk to any person may be removed without prior notice.
You keep ownership of any content you create in SoberLoop (check-ins, posts, vault items, messages). By posting content, you grant SoberLoop a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display it within the Service as needed to operate its features. You may delete your content at any time, and deleting your account removes your content as described in our Privacy Policy.
Squad founders, moderators, and ally-group admins help keep their spaces healthy. They may set group rules, remove rule-breaking content, and remove members from their groups. These roles do not make someone a SoberLoop employee or moderator.
Parts of the Service use AI to generate motivational content, responses, and reflections. AI output may be imperfect or occasionally irrelevant, and it is never a substitute for professional care. Do not rely on it in an emergency — use the crisis resources provided in the app.
You may delete your account at any time in Settings → Danger Zone, which permanently removes your account and personal data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, endanger others, or abuse the Service. Where safety is at risk, we may act without notice.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. SoberLoop is not liable for content posted by users, decisions you make based on app content, or outcomes of peer interactions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SoberLoop is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, in-app. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
